A set of six new business cards designed by me, for my lovely sister Clare. She provided the photographic images and I did the layout. A perfect team effort. They ship off to the printer for proofing tomorrow. Its always an exciting moment, the transition from digital to physical, and opening the box to see what you’ve actually made. Another project nearly ready to tick off my list.
Over the festive season, I found myself at home surrounded by snow….not so terrible as my new sewing machine was delivered and I’ve spent some time improving our soft furnishings. Our sofa is now sporting a bold new tufted cushion look with new throw pillow and matching self-covered buttons. Very stylish (I’d like to think) and what joy to have some home days.
This week I am writing lectures about typographic design in motion, kinetic type exercises will abound. I have once again come across a few favourites in my process, firstly, the beautifully simple website Typographic Design: Form and Communication and secondly, the typeface Mrs Eaves from the Emigre Foundry, it appears the Mrs Eaves has at long last found her man. Emigre have just released the simple yet stylish, Mr Eaves.
Last Friday I went to the 100% Design expo in London. I had intended to go for a few years but never managed it. It was a great day with many very lovely and inspiring things to see. Also delightful to spend a day surrounded by people who had brought their ideas to fruition. One of the best sections was 100% materials, which featured a vast selection of newly developed materials for architectural and other purposes. The blue image above is an example of a translucent concrete. How very pleasing.
I have recently rediscovered the joys of the Aero House, and I am happy to find an excellent gallery on their new website.
