A delightful day was spent last Saturday at the Crafty Fox Spring Market at the Dogstar Hotel in Brixton. I took the French & Godbold cards collection along in my trusty suitcase and set up shop. It was great day with a good number of sales and very encouraging feedback. Our tiny gift cards proved to be quite a hit. It was also a pleasure to spend my day sharing a stall with Mrs Gumi and her husband Tom, as well as chatting to lovely range of crafty artists. There was tea and cake, great atmosphere and visits from family and friends. A very pleasing day…
Saturday 10 December, French & Godbold will be selling their wares at the Hertford Vintage Fayre once again. We are looking forward to another day of good tunes, vintage treasures and tea and cakes. Rumour has it there will also be mulled wine, mince pies and even a little Tijuana Christmas to celebrate the joys of the festive season. The Vintage Fayre takes place at the Corn Exchange, 39 Fore St, Hertford SG14 1AL, 10am-4pm. Please come by and visit us if you’re in the area.
French & Godbold have just delivered a carousel of greetings cards, box sets and tiny gift tags to the Gravelly Barn Christmas Exhibition. The exhibition is open in Braughing, Hertfordshire, on the 25, 26, 27th November 2011 from 10.30am-4.30pm. Sadly French & Godbold are not able to attend in person as we will be snuggled down in a remote stone cottage on the Isle of Anglesey. Mmmm pleasing………
We are very excited to announce that French & Godbold greeting cards and tiny gift cards are now for sale at Things British in Kingly Court, London (just off Carnaby street). Things British is a newly opened boutique committed to promoting and supporting British designers and makers. The shop is filled with a beautiful range of products and we are delighted to be included. I highly recommend a visit to Kingly Court as it provides a treasure trove of wonders to explore.
F&G have successfully delivered our commissioned print. “Long Blue Evening” was beautifully mounted in a white box frame. The slightly soft texture of the paper brought a warmth and intensity to the colour. We helped hang the image in its new home and everyone involved was very pleased with the outcome. It was beautiful to see the image expanded to this size. All of the designs in the French & Godbold card collection can be reproduced as large prints on request. Please get in touch if you are looking for a lovely new piece of art to adorn your walls.
French & Godbold have returned from their summer adventures in the fields of Cornwall and a delightful tour of Paris, Brittany and Normandy. We have had a lovely summer. We’ve returned feeling refreshed, inspired and ready for our next round of creative endeavours. Our garden is filled with a plump late summer harvest, tomatoes, basil, quinces, pears, apples, beans, figs, cucumbers, peppers. There is an autumnal feeling in the air, the moon is large and golden in the sky and Michaela has begun baking again…what a lovely time of year.
Michaela spent the afternoon at the printers today and after some discussion, a test strip and an hour in the sunshine our French & Godbold commission print is complete. The image has been printed onto Hahnemuhle German Etching paper, a beautifully soft 310gsm stock, slightly textured with a velvet finish. The final print is very satisfying, with intense deep colour and a soft warmth. What a pleasure to be making prints again, I had pleasing flash-backs to days in the etching studio at Art School. The print is now queued for framing so more updates soon….
French & Godbold are taking a holiday. We’ve packed our tent, bathers, supplies and sleeping bags (Michaela loves hers the most because it has arms and legs, it is so much fun). We are ready to hit the road in search of some Cornwall surf, sand and (with a bit of luck)….sunshine. Here’s to a week without computers and sleeping under the stars.
We are excited at French & Godbold because today we have been commissioned to re-version the image from one of our very early prototype greetings cards into a large format print. After some discussion it has been decided the image will be re-created at 841mm x 1189mm (A0) and mounted in a white box frame. It will look amazing at such a big scale and it is always very pleasing to know one’s images are appreciated enough that someone wants to live with them. We will post more pictures as the process unfolds…
Our pegboard displays are looking lovely in their new white coats of paint. All ready for another day of trading at Old Spitalfields Market tomorrow. Pegboard is very pleasing in it’s combining of practicality and pattern. Our boards are going to look rather fetching with the red-tipped chrome hooks we have chosen. Come by to see us at the market if you are in East London.
