Two Places I Call Home is a video-based artwork which draws upon real-time measurements of light from two specific locations; one in the northern and one in the southern hemisphere. The work is an actual reflection of the earth’s rotation observed through changes of light, as day moves to night on one screen and night moves to day on the other.
Two Places I Call Home utilises a range of current technologies to collapse the vast distance between two distinct locations on opposite sides of the globe. The specific quality of light and luminance from each location is measured and collected in real-time. These measurements are drawn together to create a single oscillating artwork which mirrors the rotation of the earth.
