Aether

In medieval science, Aether was the name of the classical element thought to fill the void outside the Earth’s atmosphere and extending into the universe. This exhibition curated by Melanie King and Louise Beer of Aether Collective and super/collider, brings together a group of international artists who share a fascination with astronomy, light, matter, time and space. Using various processes the artists explore unrepresentable and unimaginable phenomena existing in outer space.

During the exhibition at Imperial College London, Aether Collective presented a seminar investigating ing ways in which “invisible” objects are made tangible in the fields of both art and astrophysics.

Aether was exhibited at Jarvis Dooney Gallery, Berlin 20 February – 2 April 2016 and at Imperial College, London 29 Apr – 23 May 2016.
