Everyday extends the process of collecting real-time light samples to a global scale. Drawing real-time detailed luminance information from sample sites all around the world, this artwork generates a real-time global luminance map which reflects planetary rotation the earth orbits around the sun.
Everyday is a participatory work which will use small scale micro processing technologies and existing online networks to create a worldwide system of data collection points. Real-time data will be mapped into a visual representation of the earth’s transition through its daily cycles. The artwork addresses concepts of time, space and global scale in relation to individual experience and reveals familiar oppositions at its core; light and dark, space and time, individual and universal.
