A busy Valentine’s day this year, but I came home from my day of teaching to find a bunch of flowers, a love card and chocolates waiting for me on the kitchen table. My lovely Richard proved himself splendid once again.

All the Fun of the Fair
A lovely day was had on Saturday at the Hertford Vintage Fayre, music, tea and cake, great outfits, good conversations and very positive feedback about my new range of greetings cards. The cards will soon be available for sale online via this website and through Etsy
Satisfaction
I am working hard this week, lecturing has begun and the Hertford Vintage Fayre is on this Saturday. Many illustrations underway and the beginnings of a lovely collection of greeting cards. Its always good to have a deadline and remind oneself what can be achieved in a week.
Night Bird
Garden Birds
A detail from a new illustration of my street. It includes studies of the birds I regularly see in my garden and postal messages from across the sea. It is part of a series of new work I am creating for the Hertford Vintage Fayre in early February. The process of drawing provides a welcome relief from lecture preparation. A happy way to spend my evening.
365 Days

A newly functional website, it is sleek and running like a well-oiled machine. And many new projects to share, the first being 365 Days, a series of photographic self-portraits. Begun on Jan 1st and to continue until the end of the year. There are three of us embarked, but only time will tell who will finish. Here are the first 24 days of pictures.
Experimentation
A new project is underway; a new miniature world. Derived from some initial ideas but now there is much playing and experimentation. I love the feeling of not quite knowing where something is going and allowing the process to guide the way. One never knows what one might find. A delightful way to spend my afternoon.
Happy New Year

So far my new year has been busy, filled with fun and work and not much blogging. My resolution was not to blog more but instead to “think less and act more”. To this end, I have been overhauling my website and online portfolio rather than writing about what I am doing. Its not quite finished yet, there are plans during the next month for a new Esty shop, a line of T-shirts and a lovely range of new paper-cuts. I have many hours of fun ahead. I love the new year, it is rather like clearing out your wardrobe and in the space, creating the possibility of newness. Such opportunity….
Wonderland

Awoke this morning to a snowy message of love. Richard had drawn a love heart in the snow for me to see when I opened the blinds. What a treasure he is. It has now been covered with another 2 inches of the most beautiful puffy snow. We are snuggled down with the Chappee (our 1940’s enamel stove) for an afternoon of Christmas craft and wrapping.
